Exercise your own rights as God given and burn a CD or copy a video tape. As long as you do it for your own personal use I don't think there is a problem, only if you are doing it for profit, then you would have to have the express written permision to do so. We have all copied a cassette tape or VHS tape of a favorite for years now and if I want to make an extra copy to take with me in my vehicle I believe I have the right to do so!
If sueing twelve year old girls for file shareing is what this has become then I really think that every man and woman who has ever copied a tape or a friends CD is just as guilty as that young girl.
I read a news bulletin that said a senator or congressman has been lobbying to get a program installed on the NET that would fry our PC's if we downloaded music or other media onto our computers without permission from those who hold the copy rights to that material. If that were to happen then why can't we lobby to have an explosive installed in every motorized vehicle that would totaly destroy a car for exceeding the speed limit?
Now some of the manufacturers of the products we allready use have been putting Spyware in our programs to detect what we are doing wiht our machines ,and that my friends, is a direct violation of our privacy. And the proof of this is evedent and crystal clear when we hear that a child has been sued for the content of her PC... I hope they had a search warrant and had given it to her and her parents before they started poking around in her private property!!! I am not a lawyer but I think that violates our right to privacy just as if they went into our homes and watched how we have sex, or put us in jail for tapeing a boxing match on HBO. If this is truly a crime then the people who should be charged with a crime would be the manufacturers of the technology that we use to accomplish these deeds! And if they are willing to sue children for file sharing then all she has to do is borrow the disc from a friend and make her copy. I for one would let her borrow my entire CD collection to do just that! So please get them out of your computer and keep them out!
Still your friend; Boon
